HONOLULU – Exceeding business projections, LIST Sotheby’s International Realty, Hawaii’s premier luxury real estate brokerage, has released figures from its most recent year of operations that indicate optimism in this year’s residential market and success in reaching its business goals.

Sales figures from the first eight months of 2015 are impressive, when compared to the same period in 2014:

  • 247% increase in closed transactions (from 100 to 272)
  • 221% increase in closed dollar volume (from $99 million to $219 million)
  • 183% increase in agent population (from 42 to 77)

The past year has been an eventful one for the company. In October 2014 it acquired Kahala Associates, which added 28 agents to the existing LIST Sotheby’s International Realty team. In March 2015 it acquired Cathy George & Associates. The combined sales force represents a market share where 22 percent of all Oahu property listings over $5 million are now with LIST Sotheby’s International Realty.

Mr. Hisashi Kitami, CEO of LIST Sotheby’s International Realty and Myra Brandt, principal broker, at a recent company event.

According to Myra Brandt, principal broker for LIST Sotheby’s International Realty, there is no doubt that Hawaii’s economy is in recovery and has a promising future.

“Interest rates continue to be at record lows, which is positive news for both buyers and sellers,” Brandt said. “We are in the business of helping people build wealth through real estate and I believe there are many opportunities in the Hawaii market, especially for local families. The LIST Sotheby’s name has unmatched global reach and brand power that continues to bring strong interest in Hawaii real estate from overseas, as well.”

LIST Sotheby’s International Realty is Oahu’s fourth-largest brokerage as measured by total sales and dollar volume by agent. It provides exceptional, personalized service in the high-end market and has earned an outstanding reputation, combining the best local talent with a team of innovative marketers and international resources to strengthen global reach and exposure for clients and agents.

The brokerage’s 77 highly qualified agents comprise some of the most respected names in local real estate. During the first eight months of 2015, these agents accounted for more than $219 million in closed sales volume.

In addition to helping its clients find and market Oahu’s most extraordinary homes, LIST Sotheby’s International Realty provides a full suite of services, including property management. With the increasing number of international buyers entering the Hawaii market, the need for full-service property management has increased. LIST Sotheby’s International Realty goes beyond traditional property management to offer concierge-style services that meet the needs of an increasingly sophisticated clientele.

“We understand the importance of maintaining and fostering client relationships far beyond the sales transaction,” said Brandt. “Whether our clients are kamaʻaina or from overseas, LIST Sotheby’s is committed to ensuring that each customer receives the highest level of luxury real estate service available.”

Hawaii Affiliates of Sotheby’s International Realty Celebrate ‘The Art of Giving’

To celebrate the launch of their newly established charitable fund, the statewide Hawaii Affiliates of Sotheby’s International Realty (HASIR) united donors and recipients at the Honolulu Museum of Art at their first annual event. The evening showcased the importance of being a part of Hawaii’s close-knit community and providing support to its people.  Nearly 200 Sotheby’s International Realty agents, staff, clients, and invited guests from four islands gathered to celebrate the “Art of Giving” and support the fund, which endows local programs and nonprofits focused on conservation of the natural environment, nurturing education and preservation of Hawaii’s unique culture.

“Investment in these three key areas will help make for a better quality of life for Hawaii residents and strengthen our communities, which is extremely important to us all,” said Dodie MacArthur, CEO and founder of MacArthur Sotheby’s International Realty. “The Hawaii Community Foundation’s goals are our goals.”

Administered by the Hawaii Community Foundation, the newly launched fund is a philanthropic endeavor created by four Sotheby’s International Realty (SIR) affiliates on four islands:

“Because the Hawaii Affiliates of Sotheby’s International Realty operate in communities across the state, the kick-off event allowed our participants to come together to recognize donations made to date and gain more inspiration as we work toward greater support of our community,” said Paul MacLaughlin, Island Sotheby’s International Realty principal broker and owner.

Individuals well-versed in “the art of giving” spoke at the event. Tom Kelly, Hawaii Community Foundation vice president, spoke on the importance of giving back to the community. Matthew Bauer, COO of KUPU discussed the significance of Foundation’s “Flex Grants” for various purposes and how they have empowered Hawaii’s youth. Grant recipient Paul Jackson shared his inspiring story of how these grants enabled him to accomplish his dreams. Special guest and philanthropist Steve Sue, a successful entrepreneur and the founder of Lemonade Alley, spoke about how giving has shaped his life both personally and professionally.

Attendees enjoyed the ongoing exhibit “Auguste Rodin: The Human Experience,” sponsored by LIST Sotheby’s International Realty, and Rodin-inspired “living statues” from the Iona Contemporary Dance Theater. The evening also featured the culinary creations of Chef Russell Siu of 3660 On the Rise, a spectacular sushi bar by Yatai Sushi and entertainment by Mango Season.
